Im a senior in High school and im planning to go to a community college for 2 years and get my basics done (and hopefully cheaper) and then transfer to a university. I want to get the highest degree in my career choice .. can you help me by telling me what the process of becoming a counseling psychologist is ? thanks!

To be a registered psychologist you will need a masters degree in clinical psychology and once registered you can open your own practice. While studying you can select subjects that will assist if you want to specialize in a certain direction.eg, child psychology, drug abuse, marriage etc.

Basically, in order to become a licensed counseling psychologist you will need to earn your Doctorate degree. Good luck.

I don’t think you need an MD unless you want to be a psychiatrist and have license to prescribe medication. However, I think you need a PhD for that. Or at least a Master’s Degree.
